The latest Lions Trust Members’ Questionnaire results give a thumbs down to Millwall chairman Peter de Savary, a thumbs down to team manager Dave Tuttle, but a thumbs up to the regeneration project being a possible route to possible salvation. Not only that, but the Trust is putting its cash where its mouth is…

It is universally hoped that the PdeS era becomes a successful one, but he’s had a bad start with the likely relegation, despite there being grounds for real optimism on various occasions during the last 4 months. Even the well signalled share issue seemed to take an age to happen. Members have been particularly frustrated by the talk of signing Roy Keane, but failing to bring in any new blood other than Lloyd Dyer and Berry Powel, and then seeing the hope they brought with them barely get closer to the action than the subs bench. Many members were critical of PdeS’ ‘too much talk and not enough effective action’.

Despite the questionnaire being completed between the high of the Watford result and the low of the Brighton match, more than 80% thought that we’ll be relegated. Dave Tuttle has to be replaced for next season, and preferably sooner rather than later. Of the high earners, Barry Hayles can stay but Andy Marshall and Jody Morris can be released.

But now the good news…

Firstly, player of the season for the Trust members was Dennis Wise’s reject Tony Craig. Well done Tony, a much improved, consistent and honest performer, and not yet 21.

The Trust initiatives, led by chairman Bob Asprey, to work much more closely with the MSC and with the FOTB, have been endorsed by the members.

Finally, the current share issue. The Lions Trust supports the share issue as a means of raising cash for the club. The members approved the application for the Trust’s full share allocation, which has now been submitted, despite it stretching the Trust finances. So the Trust are putting their cash in, but will it be a good investment?
