The Lions Trust Cup – Saturday May 24th 2008Once again I’m very pleased to announce that The Lions Trust will be holding its second annual 5-a-side football tournament for supporters during the close season. This time however we have a venue with a difference – THE DEN. Yes that’s right, The Den. Millwall Football Club has allowed The Lions Trust the use of the Zampa Road pitch on the last available Saturday in May, prior to its summertime re-seeding. This is a magnificent gesture by Millwall FC that will allow every team that enters the Cup the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf. Our special thanks go to Andy Ambler for his help in arranging this. Last year’s tournament in Catford was very well supported by eight teams from around the three main message boards, as well as a side from the Cambridge House charity. A great day out was had by all and the event was a real hit. For this year I expect demand to be higher as we hope to advertise the event in the matchday programme as well as via the internet. So if you want to grab YOUR chance of achieving Millwall glory, then you’ll need to move fast. * Entrance fees are £70 per team, based on a seven man squad (£10 per person). * Places in The Lions Trust Cup will be allocated on a first paid / first served basis.
